ABOUT THE LAB
ZettaFlux Labs is an independent software engineering and R&D initiative dedicated to exploring software architecture, distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and automation through practical engineering projects.
Created as a space for technical experimentation, the initiative focuses on translating engineering ideas into working software, exploring architectural approaches, and developing a deeper understanding of complex systems.
The work emphasizes practical software engineering principles, including reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and thoughtful system design.
Projects developed under ZettaFlux Labs reflect independent technical exploration rather than active commercial service offerings.
Investigate technical challenges and possible approaches.
Evaluate architecture, system behavior, and trade-offs.
Implement practical prototypes and software systems.
Assess reliability, maintainability, security, and performance.
ENGINEERING FOCUS
Exploring the technologies and architectural principles behind reliable, scalable, and maintainable software systems — from low-level programming to cloud-native distributed applications.
Designing backend applications, APIs, and concurrent services with an emphasis on clean architecture, reliability, and maintainability.
Exploring communication patterns, asynchronous workflows, service coordination, and fault-tolerant architectures for distributed applications.
Building and experimenting with containerized applications, infrastructure automation, and cloud deployment architectures.
Applying software engineering to network protocols, telecommunications infrastructure, service orchestration, and communication systems.
Working with performance-conscious software, concurrent processing, memory management, and systems-level programming.
Exploring developer productivity, automated workflows, code generation, testing, and repeatable software delivery.
SELECTED ENGINEERING WORK
Independent engineering projects exploring backend architecture, distributed systems, infrastructure automation, and practical software development.
Backend Architecture / Cloud Infrastructure
An independently developed trading execution infrastructure prototype exploring secure webhook ingestion, multi-tenant backend architecture, broker integration workflows, and cloud-native software deployment.
Engineering focusTenant-aware request validation, encrypted credential storage, and Redis-backed signal deduplication address isolation and repeated webhook delivery. Separate execution adapters keep broker integration concerns outside the API request path.
Status: Commercial development discontinued
Retained as an independent engineering case study demonstrating backend architecture, infrastructure design, security, and software integration.
Golang / Backend Infrastructure / Developer Tooling
An in-memory Go rate-limiting library implementing token bucket, fixed window, and weighted sliding window algorithms behind a shared interface, with net/http middleware for request throttling.
Engineering focusSharded locking coordinates concurrent requests while configurable rates and retry information support API integration. Unit tests and benchmarks explore correctness, contention, and memory trade-offs.
Status: Open-source library
Published under the MIT license. Includes unit tests, middleware examples, and documented benchmarks. A GitHub Actions workflow builds, vets, and runs race-enabled tests on Go 1.22 and stable.
ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES
Good software engineering is not only about choosing technologies. It involves understanding requirements, evaluating trade-offs, anticipating failure, and designing systems that remain reliable, secure, and maintainable as they evolve.
Start with the problem, requirements, and constraints. Choose architectural patterns based on actual needs rather than complexity for its own sake.
Consider failure scenarios early. Design for predictable behavior, controlled recovery, and graceful handling of unexpected conditions.
Understand performance characteristics through measurement. Optimize meaningful bottlenecks while balancing efficiency, complexity, and maintainability.
Treat security as an architectural consideration, including authentication, authorization, input validation, credential protection, and controlled access.
Favor readable, modular, and testable implementations that can evolve without unnecessary complexity or fragile dependencies.
Evaluate solutions against real constraints, including technical feasibility, operational overhead, delivery effort, and long-term sustainability.
BEHIND THE LAB
Creator & Independent Engineer
Senior Backend & Distributed Systems Engineer
ZettaFlux Labs was created by Surya Pratap Singh, a software engineer with more than 10 years of professional experience designing and developing backend systems, distributed applications, cloud orchestration platforms, and telecommunications software.
His technical background spans Golang, C/C++, Python, network protocols, cloud-native infrastructure, and software architecture.
Through ZettaFlux Labs, he explores independent software ideas, experiments with architectural approaches, and develops practical engineering projects beyond his primary professional responsibilities.
The initiative reflects his interest in understanding complex systems, evaluating technical trade-offs, and translating engineering concepts into working implementations.
